Supporting Families Who Adopt
December 2012
This document sets out the package of reform measures aimed at improving adoption support. These include:
- giving adoptive parents the same rights to pay and leave as birth parents;
- publishing an Adoption Passport informing adoptive parents about what support they can expect; and
- piloting personal budgets which will enable parents to have a freer hand in choosing the right support for their family.
This document is aimed at prospective adopters and adoptive families to help them understand what the package of reforms means for them.
